I want to experiment in working with muck. I have a small flat pot in mind that I want to use. This calls for a smallish tree for which I have no attachments. I was thinking of using either the Pepper Trees or the Silk Oak, but they’re a bit too small. Instead, I went to the local hardware store to see what they had. And they had a couple.

Let’s have some rotating images.

I trimmed it down to a more proportionate size. I’m really quite pleased with it… the bark presents nicely.

I hesitated on the middle-ish branch. It’s clearly out of keeping with the overall tree presentation, so it will eventually have to be chopped. I left it on hoping for backbudding. But I’m thinking it’s just going to have growth up high, throwing the rest of the tree out of whack. (Also, the left-most branch will need to be cut, and maybe wired.)
