Kangaroo Apple: July 2024 repot

The Kangaroo Apple is an Australian evergreen, so I figure that a winter repotting should be ok. The goal is simply to get the tree into a bigger pot for more growth. I’m not going to do any pruning (root or branch), and the existing soil mix will continue, so I’m hoping there won’t be much in the way of shock.

Here’s the starting point:

Here’s the starting point, with not much change since my last trunk chop.
A few low buds, but I don’t think that’s changed much since summer.
Hmm.
I think this was the site of the last big chop… it looks ready to grow come spring.

All right, let’s get it out.

While not quite root bound, that’s ready for a new pot.
I forgot I’d put that mush in.

Into a root pouch:

It’s only 5 liters, but that was a much larger set of soil mix than I’m used to mixing.
There was a little bit of Corsican mint that had seeded, which I’m quite happy to keep.

And into the alley to let it grow.

It should be good for at least a couple of years now, although maybe I’ll move it to a sunnier spot.
