Nandina Domestica: August 2024 collection

This has been three years in the ground, in a position where it wasn’t getting enough light. Time to bring it out.

This picture is from January. It’s doing ok, but there’s a lot of competition from surrounding plants.
Here we are in August, coming out of winter. Looks ok.
Taking it out, I note that the leaves are only on the top. Near work some building have thick ground cover of these things, so this could (should?) be growing much thicker.
That’s actually a nice root base.
There’s a branch in the center there which is dead. And not in an interesting way.

And into a pot. I find this kind of interesting, it I can get some good growth in. And those nodes are far too long.

I’d like to move this into a pot soonish, but there’s a lot of other stuff to do, so maybe I’ll wait a year. I’ll want to compactify the growth, but I’ll wait to see how it recovered from coming out of the ground.
