An update where the Weigela continues to look like a bouquet.
The underlying problem is that the leaves are too big for the trunk, so they cover it easily. I haven’t done any work on it so far this season, so this is natural growth filling in the gaps. Frankly, I don’t know if there’s much I can do to improve the tree, without getting a new tree.
