The Bottle Tree has been growing very well, despite a chronic oxalis problem in the pot (well, the yard as a whole, really). But the structure has been pretty meh for a long while.
Single thick trunk, then two straight trunks, then a mess of subdivisions.
Time for a change.
Cleaning away the weeds, the trunk has grown significantly. That’s fourish centimeters thick. Some nice air roots as well.
I made a little well to encourage the water to the center.
Looking at prior cuts, I believe the sealing paste stimulate new branches. When I made heavy prunes in the past, the branch just died back.
And finished (except for the sealant, which I did apply).
That was mid-November; I have some photos from three weeks later.
This is the taller branch which is showing a lot of new growth.
This is the shorter trunk, which is also showing new growth, but a week or so slower.
See, I did apply sealant. Although focus is iffy at best.
