Pink Flowered Ironbark: March 2025 maintenance

The tree continues to flourish, with an unfortunate tendency to grow on the outside, rather than ramifying on the inside. I’m looking to prune it back pretty hard and hope to get more growth on the inner branches.

Don’t get me wrong; I’m very happy with the volume of growth, but I’d like it to be a lot tighter.
This view really shows how overgrown the tree has gotten – it’s overflown the pot by about a foot in every direction.
Let’s have a look at whether the sealant has had any effect on the bark.
Nope, none whatsoever. I cut this back a bit, making the two stumps into one. I might work on this over time to create a shari appearance.

Finished product. Looking back 15 months, I can see the wiring has taken root, and the tree is progressing.
Top view again to show that the foliage is kept closer to the pot.
By ancient tradition.
