With the English Box out of the way, the cotoneaster has some room for direct sun.

Directly visible at last. There is one of three ashes to the right (north), which won’t cast significant shade for years. And some tea trees to the left (south), which don’t cast shade in any case.

This was previously hidden by the Box. Frankly I’m surprised it has as much foliage as it does.
There’s a reasonable trunk forming at the base, with a good deal of branching.

All in all, some happy accidents have been at play here. I look forward to seeing the results.
