Yellow Banksia Rose: November 2023 Repot

I had decided on doing a repot due to general poor health. But it turns out the Yellow Banksia had been going downhill all year, slowly enough that I didn’t really notice until writing this post.

December 2022, a couple of years after first potting.
October 2023. This should be in spring bloom, but it’s still in autumn colours.
October 2023. All the top growth is gone. I’ve got some spring leaves at last, but… this is not a healthy tree.
That’s a fairly heavy soil mix, although there’s some fine roots showing through. Plus that grass stuff is back.

I couldn’t work out how to get the tree out of the pot, so I cleaned it in place. And I found old decisions.

What’s with this wire loop?
Also, this root ball is substantially smaller than when it went in three years ago. That’s not good.
Let’s see how it goes this time.

No plans for this tree… I need to see if it survives.
