Weeping Bottlebrush: January 2024 update

Planted in May 2022, last update in January 2023… let’s see what’s been happening.

Late March 2023: The things that sprouted in Jan continued growing, and I got a couple more on the left.

At this point, I’m pretty sure this is the weeping bottlebrush as intended, and not some weed.

July 2023: continued to grow, but not particularly strongly.

I’m coming to the conclusion that the planters used here are not good for outdoors. After rain they flood, and I end up with a boggy muck. Six months later, I take some action to get them into better potting.

January 2024: They aren’t really growing. Even the largest have put on maybe an inch in six months. Let’s get them some new homes to see if that helps.
And done.

These are definitely a tree or shrub of some kind – the central stems already feel a bit woody. I’m hoping this better draining soil and pot will lead to some growth. It’s mid-summer, so I’m also hoping we don’t get a brutal summer streak, but that’s really a generic concern.
