Pink Flowered Ironbark – January 2022 maintenance

It’s been 3 months since this one was potted, and it’s been growing happily. This one always does best in the summer heat. This guy really wants to grow at the top, but it’s already too tall. So in it comes for some reductions.

You must be less that this high not to get cut.
This is the new growth, but it’s heavily confined to the top.

Here’s the aftermath. I’ve cut back a bunch of the new growth, and even one of the leading branches. Plus there’s a few ties to encourage branches to separate and level, without having to wire them.

Is this a more interesting front?

Hmm…I didn’t realise it’s been such a short time since I potted it. I really should have left it alone for a season.

Also, that base is a little uninteresting. I wonder if I can do something about that.
