Prickly Paperbark: October 2022 pruning

These three have been planted for a year in the driveway, and have been growing like rockets. October 16 was time for some shaping.

Number 1 is by far the strongest grower, probably because it gets the most sun. I could have been a formal upright, which would have been pretty boring.

But I decided I didn’t want a formal upright, so a) trunk chop, and b) training in a new leader.

Number 2 has some quite nice movement already, so it only needed to be shortened.

Probably closest to being harvested.

Number 3 is just dull. No idea what can happen here.
