National Arboretum Canberra – September 2018

In September 2018 I visited the National Bonsai and Penjing collection of Australia at the National Arboretum in Canberra. I took the photos around midday on a very bright day, so there’s heavy shadows. Also, I went in early spring, so many of the deciduous trees were light on leaves.

Arboretum: A place where an extensive variety of woody plants are cultivated for scientific, educational, and ornamental purposes.
The care taken to avoid damaging bark… wire in plastic tubes, and raffia paper for ties.
This one is just like a train set, with detailed models.
Birds in the trees…
…deer in the fields…
…and people spaces.

The displays turn over regularly, so go nuts.
